BRAKING LEVEL ONE SYNOPSIS


The brakes on a motorcycle are not just there to slow you down and stop you. In this module you will be introduced to the front and rear brakes and how they can be used as stabilizers.


As usual in this module we start with a few warm up laps just to get used to the bikes and the training area and then we jump into the following.

 

  • A quick revision of the speed control module

 

  • Stopping smoothly: come to a stop smoothly always in the right gear and always ready to go

 

  • Quick Stop: stop fast and with complete control learn how to read the feedback from your tyres and suspension

 

  • Progressive Release: learn how to come off the brakes progressivly, this is a precursor to trail braking.Brake Over Throttle: use the rear brake as a stabilizer this is a good technique for trimming the turn

BRAKING LEVEL TWO SYNOPSIS


To use the brakes on a motorcycle effectively, the rider requires a developed skill set and that’s just in a straight line. What happens if things go wrong mid turn? Anyone who rides can appreciate the complexities of stopping a bike quickly mid corner. In this module you will be introduced to the front and rear brakes and how they relate to stabilization, traction and steering mid corner.


As usual in this module we start with a few warm up laps just to get used to the bikes and the training area and then we jump into the following.

 

  • A quick revision of the Braking level one module

 

  • Brake over throttle (slalom): Ride through a slalom course using the brake over throttle technique to stabilize the bike

 

  • Braking mid corner: Use the brakes mid corner, develop understanding of the steering, traction and stabilization effect of the brakes min corner.
     

  • Stopping mid corner: stop fast mid corner and with complete control learn how to read the feedback from your tyres and suspension
